Men's Volleyball Defeated by Ball State on Thursday

On Thursday, the Lindenwood men's volleyball team fell to Ball State 3-1 in Muncie, Indiana. 

OVERVIEW  
The Lions grabbed the lead early in the first set, holding the Cardinals to a 6-1 deficit. Ball State regained their footing however, closing the gap throughout the middle of the set. Kadin Warner had some huge moments during this set, knocking down two aces and five kills, including the final kill for the game point, leading the Lions to a 25-22 victory.  

Ball State got out ahead in the second, keeping the lead all the way through the 25th point. Alex Pappas had a strong set for the Lions, racking up four block assists and three kills. The Cardinals ended up winning the second 25-20, despite the Lions' effort to make a late comeback.  

The teams were neck and neck during the third set, heading into overtime with Ball State at 25 and Lindenwood at 24 points. The last rally was a long one, but the Cardinals still came out on top with a 26-24 victory.  

Set four was equally tight, neither team ever really gaining much of a lead over the other. A.J. Lewis had an especially powerful performance, keeping Lindenwood in it with six big kills and a service ace. However, despite the Lions' solid effort, Ball State walked away with the win in the end (25-21 final score).  

Kyle Deutschmann had the most digs of the night, leading the Lions with eight total. Lewis tallied the most kills with 18 total, while Connor Sheehan contributed the most set assists with 42 overall. Pappas had an impressive eight block assists, which was the most overall for Lindenwood. Diego Negron led the way with 35 total receptions, and Phil Swartz was next in line with 24.

Tomorrow, Lindenwood will take on Ohio State with a 7:00 p.m. start time in Columbus, Ohio.
