Men's Lacrosse Comes Up Short Against Limestone

The Lindenwood men's lacrosse team lost 13-8 to No. 8 Limestone University on Saturday in South Carolina.

OVERVIEW
Limestone took the lead from the get go, ending the first quarter up 3-1. Patrick Kaschalk netted the lone goal for the Lions with eight minutes to go, but Limestone would answer with their third goal shortly after. Kaschalk scored the most for the Lions overall, leading the way with three total after the final whistle. The graduate transfer also grabbed an assist, leading in overall points for the Lions with four total. 

The Lions looked to close the gap in the second, with Danny Carolan scoring first off Kaschalk's assist to make it 2-3. However, Limestone's Austin Lamoureux answered just a minute later, extending their lead yet again. Dylan Colon later set Keese Zugehoer up for a man-up goal, getting the Lions back to just a one-goal deficit, but Limestone answered the call again. Cam Smith would get his first goal of the game shortly after, but another Saints goal made it 4-6. Smith netted his second on another man-up opportunity for the Lions, then just 20 seconds later, Limestone scored again. 

Kyle Hebert came in for Blake Nolan at the start of the third quarter, and would stay in for the remainder of the game, making nine saves and recording a .600 save percentage. Neither team scored for the first seven and a half minutes of the quarter, with strong defense happening on both sides. Lindenwood scooped up five ground balls and held tough defensively, then Kaschalk grabbed his second goal, closing the gap 6-7. 21 seconds later, Limestone netted another, then used this momentum to propel them forward., scoring the next three goals and holding the Lions to none. 

The score was 6-11 to start the final quarter, and the Saints kicked things off with a man-up goal to make it 6-12 with 13:20 to go. Kaschalk scored his third and final goal two minutes later in hopes of igniting a comeback for the Lions, but Limestone's defensive presence just increased as a response. Each team would score one more goal before the game was over, with Dylan Colon's first of the game coming with 2:24 left.
