The Lindenwood men's lacrosse team won 13-9 at Florida Southern College on Monday afternoon.
OVERVIEW
The Lions were down 4-1 going second into the period with a lone goal from
Nolan Corker but went on a four-goal spree to take the lead in the second, starting with a 13:43 goal from
Jonathan Schlapper.
Patrick Kaschalk and
Cam Smith each netted a man-up goal, and Kaschalk grabbed his second of the game with less than seven minutes to go before Florida Southern finally scored again.
After two more goals from Kaschalk, one more from Smith, and
Peter Covington's first of the game, the Lions went into halftime up 8-6. Corker netted another just 30 seconds into the third to extend the Lions' lead.
The Moccasins closed the gap as the period went on, however, making it 9-8 with eight minutes left in the third. The duo of Smith and Corker held them off, though, pushing the Lions ahead 11-8 after two back-to-back goals. To round out the game in the final period, a fifth goal from Kaschalk and
Adrian Thompson's first of the season brought Lindenwood to 13 total goals.
Kyle Hebert came up huge in goal, making 20 total saves, which ties the Lindenwood program record currently held by
Connor Ciemiewicz from March 3rd, 2020.
Sam Schaffer and
Jony Major were both big defensively, leading the way with four ground balls each.
