The Lindenwood baseball team (3-5) earned a 13-7 win over Wayne State (1-3) on Saturday afternoon at Lou Brock Sports Complex in St. Charles, Mo.

GAME OVERVIEW
The Lions got on the board in the first inning by being aggressive on the base paths.Â
Will Lanxon and
Calvin Nowak executed a double steal to second and third base, as Lanxon was able to score after a throwing error on the play. Wayne State answered with a pair of runs in the top of the second inning, but the Lions scored another run on by forcing the Wildcats to make a play.Â
Maclaine McCarter was able to draw a throw to second base, allowing
Ethan Abercrombie to cross the plate before the final out was made.

The Wildcats took a one-run lead in the top of the third inning, but
Niko Marshall settled in and kept Wayne State off the board for the remainder of his outing. The Lions picked up the offensive production in the bottom of the sixth to regain the lead.Â
Jayce Maag drove in three runs on a bases-clearing double down the left field line, making it a 5-3 lead.

In the top of the seventh,
Michael Ward continued to bring runs across the plate on his one-RBI single through the left side.Â
Genesis Nunez drove in a pair of runs on a double to right field, and later scored on a sacrifice fly by
Sam Kissane. The Wildcats score four runs of their own in the top of the eighth, but they struggled to keep pace with the Lions.

Lanxon added a run in the bottom half of the inning on a wild pitch, and Kissane registered a three-run triple to break the game open.Â
Michael Cessna closed out the final inning to secure the 13-7 victory on Saturday. Marshall went six innings to earn his second win of the season, as he tallied four strikeouts.
