The Lindenwood women's lacrosse team blew by Rockhurst with a 16-4 win in the 2022 season opener on Wednesday in Kansas City, Mo.
 Â
It took no time at all for the Lions to get on the board against the Hawks.

Emma Arnold and
Paige Sutton, the lead extended to 4-0 going into the second.Â
Bridget Considine knocked down a free-position goal three minutes into the second period after Rockhurst's Nia Callion received a yellow card.
Chloe Elliott,
Meredith Parry (2) and
Breylin Bright all notched their first goals of the season as well, and after a late free-position goal from Rockhurst, Lindenwood went up 9-1 before halftime. Â
Sutton and Considine each netted two more goals during the third period, and
Sophia DeFrancesco also tallied one for the Lions. The Lindenwood defense continued to hold strong, scooping up five of the six ground balls presented. The Lions also completed three of their four clear attempts and forced the Hawks into five turnovers. Â
Rockhurst outscored Lindenwood for the first time all game in the fourth period, but the Lions came out on top in the end. Sara Greico snagged her first goal of the season, and Bright wrapped things up with the final Lindenwood goal in the last ten seconds of the game. Â
Eleanor Kast held strong for the Lions in net, making two big saves and only allowing one goal in the three periods she played.
Haylie Sims made her debut in the fourth, making four crucial saves. Arnold led the Lindenwood defense by scooping up three ground balls and causing three Hawks turnovers.
