The Lindenwood wrestling team finished the NCAA Division II Wrestling Championships in 34th place on Saturday in St. Louis, Mo.
Colby Smith had the best finish for the Lions this weekend, as he took sixth place in the 141-pound weight class. Smith won his first two matches on Friday by identical scored of 6-2, advancing to the semifinals on Saturday. The three-time national qualifier met the No. 2 seed in the tournament and took an early lead. Smith fell behind late in the match, and lost by a final of 9-7 in the seminal bout.
Nate Trepanier won his first match of the tournament by a commanding 11-2 decision. Trepanier was matched up with the No. 1 seed in the second round, and lost by a margin of 8-0.
Isaac Jacquez drew the No. 1 seed in his first match, while
Tanner Hitchcock faced the No. 7 seed in his 133-pound match.
