The Lindenwood men's lacrosse team (4-2) won 8-7 in overtime against No. 4 UIndy (7-1) on Saturday afternoon in Hunter Stadium.
OVERVIEW
The Greyhounds started things off with a 3-0 lead midway through the first period until
Cam Smith scored off the assist from
Dylan Colon, making it 3-1 before the clock ran out.
Colon tallied another assist to kick things off in the second period, helping
Patrick Kaschalk get on the board to make it 3-2. The Lions were able to tie things up after Kaschalk assisted
Adrian Thompson on his first of the game, but the Greyhounds scored in the last minute, regaining their one-goal lead right before halftime.
UIndy scored back-to-back goals in the third period, but Zugehoer and Smith each answered with a goal a piece shortly after. At the end of the third, UIndy was up 6-5.
Nolan Corker netted his first of the game at the start of the fourth to tie things back up. Smith came up with a huge goal with just 2:14 left in the game to give the Lions a late lead. The Greyhounds scored with less than 30 seconds left to send the game into overtime.
After a big faceoff win from
Michael Miocic to get the overtime play going,
Danny Carolan drove straight into Greyhound territory and found Smith on the pass. Kaschalk then netted the game-winner off the assist from Smith.
This is now Lindenwood's second time beating UIndy in program history, and the Lions snapped the Greyhounds' seven-game win streak with the victory.
