Baseball Dominates Doubleheader on Saturday

The Lindenwood baseball team (14-10, 3-0 GLVC) swept Saturday's doubleheader over Southwest Baptist (5-19, 0-3 GLVC) by finals of 14-0 and 7-0, respectively at Lou Brock Sports Complex in St. Charles, Mo.
 
GAME ONE OVERVIEW
Austin Schmitt opened up the scoring in the first inning with a solo home run to left field.  Will Henson brought in a run in the second inning on a sacrifice fly, while Calvin Nowak brought in a pair on a single to centerfield.  Kolby Schulte registered an RBI on his single later in the inning, giving Lindenwood a 5-0 lead.  The Lions added a run in the third and another in the fourth to increase the advantage to seven runs.
 
Lindenwood broke the game wide open, as Schmitt belted a grand slam to left center.  Bailey Crump pinch in later in the frame, as he registered a solo shot to make it a 12-0 lead for the Lions.  Henson tallied another sacrifice in the sixth, while a bases-loaded walk drew in another run to give the Lions the 14-0 lead.  Ryan O'Connell finished the game with a complete-game shutout, as he collected seven strikeouts with just four hits allowed.

GAME TWO OVERVIEW
Lindenwood continued to stay hot at the plate in the second game, as a two-out double by Sam Kissane put the first runs on the board.  Kissane scored later in the inning on a fielding error by the Bearcats, giving the Lions an early 3-0 lead.  After a double down the left field line in the third inning, Kissane scored on a passed ball to increase the advantage to four runs.
 
Lindenwood picked up a pair of runs in the fourth inning on a groundout and a sacrifice bunt.  The Lions closed out the scoring in the fifth inning after executing the double steal, bringing in the seventh and final run of the game.  Eli Brown surrendered just three hits in his six innings of work.  Brown struck out five batters, as Michael Cessna closed the door in the seventh inning with three-straight outs.
