The Lindenwood women's lacrosse team beat the Colorado Mesa Mavericks with an 18-6 final score on Sunday afternoon in Grand Junction, Colorado.
OVERVIEW
The Lions opened up the game on a five-goal run, with
Logann Eldredge,
Meredith Parry,
Chloe Elliott,
Meghan Rea and
Bridget Considine all scoring before the Mavericks could get on the board. Eldredge netted two more and
Emma Arnold also put one in before the first quarter ended, making it 8-1 Lions early on.
The second period consisted of two more goals from Eldredge and one more each from Considine and Parry. Sophia DeFransesco and
Clara Gallapoo scored their first goals of the game before half, and the Lions would start the third quarter with a 15-4 lead.
Considine and Elliott each knocked in another goal in the third, while
Natalie Gane found the back of the net for her first goal of the game. The Lions would remain scoreless in the fourth quarter, but the Mavericks snuck in two more goals before the final whistle blew.
Offensive game leaders for the Lions were Eldredge with five total goals and Considine with five assists and eight total points. Arnold,
Alyssa Kneedler,
Kelsey Long and
Eleanor Kast split the top spot for ground balls with two each, and Long caused three turnovers total to lead the way for Lindenwood.
