The Lindenwood baseball team (20-14, 9-4 GLVC) flexed its strength at the dish to move past Missouri-St. Louis (7-21, 6-7 GLVC) by a final of 9-7 on Thursday afternoon in St. Louis, Mo.
GAME OVERVIEW
The Lions jumped on the board in the top of the fourth inning, as
Kolby Schulte scored on a ground out.
Jack Meyer scored the second run on a passed ball to take a 2-0 lead. The Tritons immediately responded with two runs of their own in the bottom half of the inning to tie the game.
Sam Kissane broke the tie again in the top of the sixth inning, as he later scored on a sacrifice fly to make it 4-2. Missouri-St. Louis matched the two runs in the next half inning, and added three more to take a 7-4 advantage.
Meyer brought the Lions within a run, after hitting a two-run shot to left field in the top of the seventh. In the eighth inning,
Michael Ward put the Lions up 9-7 with a three-run blast.
Logan Katen pitched the final three innings for the Lions, holding the Tritons hitless while striking out seven batters. Lindenwood held on for the two-run victory in the opening game of the series.
