Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Lions Down Rockhurst in 20-10 Road Victory

The Lindenwood women's lacrosse team beat Rockhurst with a 20-10 final score in Kansas City, Mo. on Saturday afternoon.

OVERVIEW
Things were kick-started by a Paige Sutton goal off the assist from Logann Eldredge in the first minute and a half of play. The Hawks would net a goal shortly after, looking to keep things close, but Sutton would get the next goal for the Lions just a few minutes later. Bridget Considine got on the board before Rockhurst scored again, then Meredith Parry would grab a free position goal in the last 38 seconds to keep the Lions up 4-2, but the Hawks squeezed in another quick goal with just seven seconds to go in the period.

Eldredge scored to begin the second period, and Emma Arnold got on the board shortly after to further extend the Lions' lead. Rockhurst would also grab another goal as well, but Lindsey Smith would turn around and answer with her first goal of the game. Considine and Sutton both tallied another goal each, and the Lions would head into the third leading 9-6.

Lindenwood found an upward swing of momentum during the third period, with more goals coming from Considine, Sutton, and Arnold as well as Sara Grieco and Natalie Gane grabbing their first points of the game, getting on the board to push the Lions ahead 14-9 by the end of the third. The Hawks continuously attempted to close the gap, but to no avail, because the Lions held strong both offensively and defensively.

Eldredge, Smith (2) and Grieco all found the back of the net again in the fourth to further solidify their own stat lines and the Lions' lead as well. Chloe Elliott and Meghan Rea also tallied their first goals of the game, and the Hawks only put one more in before the final whistle.

Offensively, game leaders of the day include Sutton with four total goals and Considine with two assists and five total points. Kelsey Long scooped up an impressive eight ground balls to lead the Lions' defensive efforts, and Eleanor Kast made six total saves to hold down the fort in goal.
