Saturday's Doubleheader Ends in Split for Baseball

The Lindenwood baseball team (17-11, 6-1 GLVC) split Saturday's doubleheader with William Jewell (17-8, 4-3 GLVC).  The Lions took the first game by a 4-2 margin, while the Cardinals closed out the day with a 3-0 win.
 
GAME ONE OVERVIEW
Lindenwood jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the second inning, after Will Lanxon and Austin Schmitt hit back-to-back RBI singles.  William Jewell tied the game in the bottom of the fifth, as the Cardinals scored a pair of runs on a two-out single to centerfield.  The Lions had two runners in scoring position with two outs in the top of the seventh, when a fielding blunder allowed both runners to score.  Lindenwood held on for the 4-2 victory, as Jacob Thompson shut the door with his first save of the year.

GAME TWO OVERVIEW
Lindenwood struggled at the plate in the second game of the doubleheader.  The Lions generated two hits and left four runners stranded in the seven-inning affair.  Eli Brown and Niko Marshall gave the Lions a change throughout the game, as they combined for eight hits allowed in six innings pitched.
