The Lindenwood baseball team (22-17, 11-7 GLVC) earned a sweep over No. 23 Drury (28-11, 13-5 GLVC) by scores of 11-8 and 7-2, respectively on Friday at Lou Brock Sports Complex in St. Charles, Mo.
GAME ONE OVERVIEW
The Lions started the scoring in the first inning with the help of a leadoff walk and a stolen base by
Will Lanxon. Later in the inning, Lanxon scored make it a 1-0 lead for Lindenwood. In the bottom of the second,
Alex Gauspohl extended the lead, while
Jayce Maag made it a three-run lead with a single up the middle.
Austin Schmitt drove in a pair of runs with a double to right center, and
Kolby Schulte brought another run across the plate for a 6-0 lead.
Drury got three runs back in the top of the third, and another run in the top of the fifth inning to bring the score to a slim 6-4 advantage.
Michael Ward built the lead back to three runs with a solo shot down the left field line. The Panthers battled back in the next frame, scoring four runs to take an 8-7 lead in the top of the sixth inning.
Calvin Nowak tied the game in the bottom of the sixth with an RBI single to right field.
Maclaine McCarter was able to score on a throwing error by the pitcher, while a single by
Jack Meyer extended the lead to 10-8. Ward drove in the final run of the game for an insurance tally in the bottom of the eighth.
Logan Katen closed the door in his 3.1 innings of work to secure his sixth victory on the bump.

GAME TWO OVERVIEW
Lindenwood jumped on the board early, as an RBI single by Schulte brought Lanxon in to score. The Lions put together a big inning in the third frame, as Schulte drove in another run on a sacrifice fly. Meyer hit a single down the right field line to score a run, while
Sam Kissane added an RBI to make it 4-0. The Panthers got on the board in the top of the fifth inning, as
Ryan O'Connell was in the zone on the mound.
The Lions responded with a run in the next half inning, as Meyer and Ward hit back-to-back doubles to make it a 5-1 lead. After surrendering a run in the top of the sixth, Lindenwood answered with a pair of runs in the bottom part of the inning on RBI's by Schulte and Ward.
Jacob Thompson came in and close out the game with a scoreless inning to solidify the doubleheader sweep on Friday.
