Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Women's Lacrosse Downs Lewis in Dominant 23-7 Victory

The Lindenwood women's lacrosse team beat Lewis 23-7 in their final regular season match on Sunday afternoon.

OVERVIEW
The Lions grabbed an early four goal lead after two from Hennessey Evans, and a goal apiece from Lindsey Smith and Chloe Elliott. The Flyers would finally get on the board with 6:21 left in the first period, but Natalie Gane answered back with her first goal of the game. Evans wnetted another goal shortly after, and the Flyers found the back of the net twice more, but Lindenwood led 6-3 at the conclusion of the first period.

The dangerous duo of Evans and Gane would combine for the Lions' next five goals of the game, with Evans putting in three and Gane contributing two. Elliott netted the next two Lindenwood goals, and Gane wrapped up the second period with another goal in the last 21 seconds to push the Lions ahead 14-5 right before halftime.

Some new faces racked up the goals for the Lions in the third, with Meghan Rea scoring twice and Carly Tobias knocking in her first of the game as well. Gane also continued her powerful offensive performance with another goal before the end of the third. The Flyers snuck one in with eight seconds remaining in the period, but Lindenwood's lead remained strong, sitting at 18-6 going into the fourth.

The fourth period consisted of Meredith Parry, Aleksa Allen and Jillian Bingman's first goals of the game, along with two more goals from Elliott. Yet again, the Flyers only broke down Lindenwood's defense once, finding the back of the net one final time before the last whistle blew.

Haylie Sims got her first start of the year, recording six total saves during her time in the net. Allen recorded the most ground balls for the Lions, scooping up four total to lead the way. Gane, Kym Ardrey and Zoe Totland each won three draw controls, splitting the top spot on the Lions' leaderboard in that category. Allen also caused the most turnovers on the day, forcing the Flyers into three total turnovers.
