Women's Lacrosse Knocks Off Rockhurst in GLVC Semifinal

The Lindenwood women's lacrosse team beat Rockhurst 21-8 on Friday afternoon in the GLVC semifinal game held in Indianapolis, Indiana.

OVERVIEW
In the first few minutes of play, Rockhurst looked to kick things off by going goal for goal with the Lions. Lindenwood's goals came from Hennessey Evans, Sara Grieco, Logann Eldredge, Paige Sutton and Natalie Gane, but the Hawks looked steady as well, finding the back of the net four times to keep things close at 5-4.

Rockhurst tied it up at the beginning of the second period, but Aleksa Allen netted her first goal of the game 30 seconds later to reclaim the Lions' one-goal lead. Lindenwood would outscore the Hawks 7-1 in the second period, with the remaining goals coming from Meredith Parry, Allen, Eldredge, Kelsey Long, Sutton and Gane.

Despite the Hawks getting back on the board to open up the third period, Eldredge, Gane and Sutton each tallied another goal apiece, creating an even greater lead for the Lions. Evans knocked in two more goals in the final minutes of the period, and Lindenwood sat at 18-7 at the conclusion of the third.

Grieco, Carly Tobias and Faith Hamel would team up to net the Lions' final three goals, outscoring the Hawks 3-1 in the final fifteen minutes of play. The Lions would outshoot the Hawks 39-25 throughout the game, along with absolutely dominating the draw controls of the day, winning 25 total in comparison with Rockhurst's eight.

Eleanor Kast and Haylie Sims were the dynamic duo in the net, with Kast making five big saves and Sims making three while also recording a .750 save percentage. Kate MacDonell was Lindenwood's leader in caused turnovers with two total, while tying with Gane for the most ground balls on the day as well with two apiece.
