Men's Lacrosse Blanks Quincy in First Program Shutout

The Lindenwood men's lacrosse beat Quincy 20-0 on Tuesday in Hunter Stadium, making it the first shutout in program history since the team's NCAA era began in 2012.  

OVERVIEW 
The Lions opened things up with a goal from Peter Covington off the Cam Smith assist in the first 40 seconds of the game. Lindenwood knocked in ten more before the period ended, blanking the Hawks 11-0 going into the second. Four of those goals came from Patrick Kaschalk, while Nolan Corker netted two, and Cam Smith, Adrian Thompson and Dylan Colon each put up one. Kyle Hebert led things off in goal, only having to make one save during his minutes.

Lindenwood put in five more before the half, with Smith grabbing another and JP Morris, Jonathan Schlapper, and Alex Weis each netting one as well. Mason Homer scored his first of the year before halftime, bringing the Lions to a 16-0 lead going into the third. Blake Nolan was the between the posts for this period, recording four total saves.

Colin Nauertz checked in as the third period goalie, making a total of three saves for the Lions. Schlapper got the lone goal of the period off the assist from Nick George.

In the fourth, the Lions punched in three more goals, with Covington and Kaschalk each netting another, and Shane Sullivan putting in his first of the season. Zach Lowis rounded things out in the net, also making just one save and keeping the Lions' clean sheet until the final whistle blew. 

Michael Miocic went 7-10 in the faceoff circle and scooped up two ground balls, while Jony Major went 9-12 and grabbed four ground balls, making him a game leader in the category along with Jake Hurley, who also tallied four. Oisin McTigue led the way with three caused turnovers, adding to the Lions' strong defensive performance.
