A three-hour-and-10-minute marathon ended in defeat on Thursday, as the Lindenwood softball team (35-12) dropped its Midwest Region opener to fifth-seeded Drury (37-15) by a score of 1-0 in Evansville, Ind. It was the Lions' first appearance in the DII regional, who earned the No. 4 seed during Monday's selection show.

The 14-inning affair is the longest recorded game in Lindenwood's NCAA DII history.
All-Region First Team starter
Amanda Weyh threw another gem on Thursday, tossing a program-record 12 scoreless frames against the Panthers. The junior scattered 10 hits, while striking out eight.
Taylor Bushman and
Mya Bethany collected the lone hits of the afternoon for the Lions, while Weyh was drilled three times by opposing hurler Kristina Bettis. The Drury was righty was recently named GLVC Pitcher of the Year, as well as NFCA and D2CCA Midwest Pitcher of the Year.
The Panthers scraped across the game's only run in the top of the 14th with a sacrifice fly from Gena Kulberg, scoring Abby Tiemann.Â
Sophomore
Brianna Macias relieved Weyh in the 13th frame, allowing two hits and striking out one batter.
The Lions now await the final of the day's second contest between top-seeded Southern Indiana and eighth-seeded Saginaw Valley State. Lindenwood will square off with the loser at 2:30 p.m., from USI Field in Evansville.
