Women's Soccer Falls 2-0 on Sunday

ST. CHARLES, MO. – The Lindenwood women's soccer team (1-2-1, 0-0-0 OVC) dropped its Sunday matchup by a score of to Milwaukee (2-1-0, 0-0-0 Horizon) from Milwaukee, Wis. Sam Blazek made a career-high 11 saves in the loss.

GAME OVERVIEW
Each team traded scoring chances in the early going as Lindenwood earned a corner kick in the seventh minute that Paige Anderson eventually buried, as the Lions thought they had taken a 1-0 lead, but the goal was called back for offside. On the ensuing rush, the Panthers hit the crossbar from distance, but the game remained scoreless. Milwaukee eventually broke through in the 20th minute, converting from the spot to take a 1-0 lead.

Shortly after, Lindenwood earned a free kick just outside the box, but the attempt by Rachel Jackson was stopped by the Panthers keeper. Despite the early goal, Blazek put together a strong first half, making eight saves, including a big one in the 44th minute to keep the deficit at 1-0 heading into halftime.

Milwaukee added to its lead in the 62nd minute, taking a 2-0 advantage early in the second half. The Lions were unable to cut into the deficit and fell by a score of 2-0.

"This is a good measuring stick." said head coach Dave Musso. " Milwaukee is one of the best Division I teams out there and we're going to see a lot of good teams, so we have to keep growing as a unit, sticking together, believing, recovering and them it's all about the next game. "

Lindenwood will return home to take on Missouri S&T on Friday, Sept. 2. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. from Hunter Stadium in St. Charles, Mo.
