Thorsteinsdottir's Goal Leads Women's Soccer Past S&T

The Lindenwood women's soccer team (2-2-1, 0-0-0 OVC) picked up a 1-0 shutout win over Missouri S&T (0-1-0, 0-0-0 GLVC) on Friday night from Hunter Stadium in St. Charles, Mo.

GAME OVERVIEW
Lindenwood carried the pace of play in the opening half, generating all four shots, including one on goal. The Lions compiled three corner kicks across the first 45 minutes. The best scoring chance for Lindenwood came from a corner in the 24th minute, but the shot attempt from Jacqueline Baetz was blocked by the Miners defense. Missouri S&T was limited to zero shot attempts in the opening half, as the game was scoreless heading into halftime.

Thirteen minutes into the second half, Lindenwood earned a corner kick, but the attempt by Karleigh Daniels was stopped by the S&T keeper. The Lions kept up the pressure throughout the half and broke through in the 72nd minute when Eyglo Thorsteinsdottir found the back of the net off of a header for her first goal as a Lion. Jill Wipke and Baetz picked up assists on the score. Lindenwood was able to see the game out and pick up the 1-0 victory. Erika Anstine and Sam Blazek combined for the shutout

"Our group played hard tonight, did a lot better in possession, and created some very good scoring chances." said head coach Dave Musso. "I'm very happy with another shutout as well.
