Lindenwood field hockey (1-0) opened its season with a 2-1 win over Frostburg State (2-1) on Monday at Hunter Stadium in St. Charles, Mo.

"It is always exciting to start off season with a win," said Head Coach
Sarah Baumann. "There were a ton of positive takeaways and we saw a lot of players contribute in the game. We were also able to identify some key areas of growth for us to focus on in coming games. Overall though we were really happy with today's team win."
GAME OVERVIEWÂ
Lindenwood got on the board early in the second quarter, on the first goal of the season by
Pauline Terwindt which was assisted by
Izzy Folan. Â The Lions would extend their lead with just over two minutes left in the half when
Marina Evert deflected a shot by
Lindsay Halden past the Bobcats goaltender for her first career goal.  Lindenwood tallied eight shots on goal and seven penalty corners while holding Frostburg State to just two shots in the first half.

Lindenwood's strong play continued to open the second half, as the third quarter would see the Lions register three more shots to outshoot the Frostburg State in the third quarter. The Bobcats tacked on a goal late in the game, while
Leah Brozovich turned away three shots in the fourth to preserve the Lions victory.
