Roller hockey won its third straight TOHRS AAA Division Winter Cup title Sunday at Vetta 70 in St. Peters, Missouri. The Lions defeated the Lizards 3-2 in the championship final of the exhibition tournament.
Nick DellaMorte earned his second straight Top Scorer Award and he was also named Top Dishman at the event. Rookie goaltender Marky Hager received the Top Goaltender Award.
Lindenwood advanced to the title game as the No. 1 seed by sweeping two preliminary games on Saturday. The Lions topped the same Lizards 3-1 and overcame the Wizards 5-2.
Roller hockey returns to collegiate competition at the Eastern Collegiate Roller Hockey Association (ECRHA) Inter-Regional January 21-22. The Lions are scheduled to play Slippery Rock at 10 a.m. and Farmingdale State College at 4 p.m. on Saturday, then take on Rowan University at 7 a.m. and Slippery Rock once again at 10 a.m. on Sunday. All games are being hosted at the Mt. Pleasant Sportszone in Mt. Pleasant, Pennsylvania.
