Field Hockey Wins 2-1 Over Central Michigan

MOUNT PLEASANT, MICH. – On Sunday morning, the Lindenwood field hockey team took on Central Michigan in Mount Pleasant, Mich. The Lions would win 2-1.

GAME OVERVIEW
In the first period, both teams would remain off the scoring column. The Lions would have four shots in the period, while only giving up two. The Lions in the first period also controlled the penalty corners category having two while the Chippewas would have none. Going into the second period the score would be tied 0-0. In the second period both teams would remain quiet for majority of the period. In the final minute of the period the Lions would get on the board as well as break the 0-0 tie. Mia Simpson would put a shot in the back of the net, assisted by Hailey Bainer. The Lions would lead 1-0 at halftime.

In the third period, Simpson would strike again in the 44th minute to put the Lions up 2-0. Strong defense by the Lions would keep the Chippewas off the board in the third frame. In the fourth period, the Chippewas would score in 54th minute to close the deficit to one. The Lions would keep the Chippewas scoreless for the next six minutes to earn their second win on the season, moving to 2-6 on the year.

Leah Brozovich and Kyla Cooke would split time in net making a combined three saves.
