On Friday, the Lindenwood men's hockey team (1-2-0) fell to #15 Ohio State University, 3-2 in Columbus, Ohio.
Head Coach Rick Zombo stated, "We played a solid Big 10 opponent tonight. We were fortunate to come out of the 1st period with a 2-2 score. A careless mental mistake put us in the penalty box and Ohio State capitalized. It's too good of an opponent to expect that we could survive without a flawless game from all our players."
In the first period, both teams were able to score two, therefore the score was tied at 2-2 entering the second. Caleb Prince scored on a pass from Cade DeStefani and Drew Kuzma at 4:20. Kuzma scored the next goal on a power play for the Lions at 16:38. David Gagnon and Patrick Schmiedlin were credited with the assist.
Trent Burnham played the entire 60:00 minutes in the net for LU, allowed four goals and recorded 41 saves.
Lindenwood and Ohio State will face-off on Saturday, October 14th at 4:00 p.m. CST to complete their two-game series.
