Game Recap: Men's Hockey | | Men's Ice Hockey

Men’s Ice Hockey Has Tough Day on Ice

On Saturday, the Lindenwood men's hockey team (1-3-2) dropped a tough match to the Tommies of the University of St. Thomas, 3-1.

Head Coach Rick Zombo stated, "Very challenging to try and win a game when we play shorthanded. To have to kill (2) 5-minute majors and still keep the game in reach is a positive statement and a compliment to our penalty killers. Offensively we were absent."

The first period was a series of shots by both teams, with LU recording three and preventing UST's 13 from reaching the goal. Things "heated" up in the second with Lindenwood recording nine shots and St. Thomas shooting 13 again. In the third, UST had 12 shots and LU had four.

The Tommies scored twice in the second and one more in the third. The Lion's lone goal came in the third at 12:17 when Jake Southgate received a pass from David Gagnon.

Trent Burnham conceded two goals while recording 35 saves. The other goal conceded came from an empty net.

The next stop of the 2023-24 campaign for the Lions is Ann Arbor, Michigan, and the #4 University of Michigan. The two teams will meet on October 27th and 28th at 7:00 pm EST.
