On Friday, the Lindenwood men's hockey team (1-4-2) had a rough day on the ice, falling 9-1 to #6 Michigan.
Head Coach Rick Zombo stated, "Sixty minute game that we need to play even strength. Five-minute major takes a mature veteran out of our lineup, so it's younger players that are called upon for big time responsibilities and minutes."
With Michigan setting the tone early with a goal 40-seconds into the match, the Lions had to battle back. The Wolverines scored again at 7:28 to increase their lead to 2-0. Caige Sterzer scored Lindenwood's only goal at 15:42 on a pass from Kyle Jeffers. Michigan scored four goals in the second and three in the third.
Trent Burnham conceded six goals while recording 24 saves in 40 minutes. Matthew Syverson played 20 minutes, conceded three goals and recorded 12 saves.
Game two between these two will take place on Saturday, October 28th at 6:00 p.m. CST.
