Men’s Ice Hockey Falls to #6 Michigan

Saturday's contest was tough for the Lindenwood Lions men's ice hockey team to overcome as they fell 10-1 to the #6 Michigan Wolverines.

Head Coach Rick Zombo said, "We got outplayed at even strength and destroyed when we were in the penalty box. I'm very proud of the way our freshman goalie, Matthew Syverson played in his second NCAA DI game of his career. He played 23 minutes to close out tonight's game."

Michigan broke the ice by scoring the first goal at the 10:50 mark of the first period and again at 12:23. Lindenwood scored their solo goal at 8:07 in the second when David Gagnon was found in scoring position by Joe Prouty and Jaeden Mercier. After that, the Wolverines scored seven goals in the second and once in the third.

Trent Burnham conceded nine goals while recording 33 saves in 36:52. Matthew Syverson played 23:08, conceded one goal and recorded nine saves.

The Lions have an off week before hosting Augustana University in their home season opener on Friday, November 10th and Saturday, November 11th. Puck drop, for both contests, is scheduled for 7:10 pm at the Centene Community Ice Center.
