Women's rugby earned its second D1 Elite victory in as many chances with a score of 25-12 over Central Washington University Saturday afternoon at Tomlinson Stadium in Ellensburg, Washington.

Despite a long road trip, the Lions controlled much of the first 20 minutes of the match on attack and managed points at the 10-minute mark. A successful lineout led to a Tanaka Kanyepi try on the edge of the pitch. The conversion was missed, but Lindenwood led 5-0.

Amy Brice had one of the great attacking performances during the game and that effort led to the second Lions try. Lindenwood had the perfect set piece attacking play that set her up to take the short line, slicing through the defense and breaking free for a 45-meter run. The conversion was unsuccessful, but the Lions extended their advantage to 10-0.

As the first half clock ticked down, freshman Madison Jersey used her speed on the edge for a 75-meter try in the corner in the 37^th minute to give Lindenwood a 15-0 lead at the break.

The Wildcats mounted a comeback in the second half, scoring tries in the 57^th and 65^th minutes. With one of them converted, the Lions advantage was cut to 15-12, but Lindenwood controlled the remainder of the contest.

Jersey broke free on the edge again with her speed for a 20-meter try in the 70^th minute to extend the lead to 20-12, then Brice scored her second of the match in the 77^th minute after the Lions threw multiple attacking phases together to work down into Central Washington territory.

That proved to be the final points of the game, giving Lindenwood the 25-12 win.
 
Women's rugby heads right back on the road for another D1 Elite match-up against Brigham Young University November 4. The opening kickoff is scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday morning at South Field in Provo, Utah.
