In a first ever meeting between the two squads, women's rugby was stopped by Davenport University 27-14 Saturday afternoon at Turf Field in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
 
The Panthers came into the match undefeated with a point differential of +295 in only three games this season, so the Lions knew they were in for a tough challenge. They fought hard through the entire contest, but came up short. Senior Erica Cathey scored both tries for the Lions and Sophie O'Cain successfully kicked both conversions in the loss.
 
With the loss, Lindenwood fell to 1-1 in collegiate competition for the season. The Lions will have another challenge in their next match as they travel to Hanover, New Hampshire to face two-time defending NIRA 15's National Champions Dartmouth College October 7. The Big Green are off to a 3-0 start and have outscored their opponents by a combined +145, only yielding a total of 22 points. The opening kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. at Brophy Field with the game broadcast on ESPN+.
