It was a difficult day for the Lindenwood men's ice hockey team, as they fell 9-3 to the #19 Penn State University Nittany Lions.
Head Coach Rick Zombo said, "I was very pleased that Mercier got his first goal of the season."
The first period concluded with Penn State up 2-0 after scoring at 6:16 and 12:37. During the second period, the Lions scored twice, however, the Nittany Lions tallied four for the period. Jaeden Mercier scored the first goal of the game for Lindenwood, and it was also his first of the season. Mercier was assisted by Kyle Jeffers and Caleb Price. Adam Conquest scored the second LU goal at 12:04 after taking a shot at the goal on a pass from David Gagnon and Price.
Penn State scored three goals in the third period. Mercier scored his second goal of the game at 17:15. He was assisted by Drew Kuzma and Jack Anderson.
Trent Burnham conceded five goals while recording 28 saves in 29:40. Matthew Syverson played 30:20, conceded four goals and recorded 23 saves.
These two teams will face off again on Saturday at 3:00 pm CST.
