ST. CHARLES, MO. – On Friday night, the Lindenwood women's ice hockey team took on Penn State. The Lions would fall 4-2, after giving up two early goals in the first period.
GAME OVERVIEW
Twelve minutes left to go in the first period, Penn State would score the first tally of the game. Seven minutes later, the Nittany Lions would extend their lead to two, after scoring on the power-play. To end the period, the Black and Gold would trail the Nittany Lions, 2-0.
In the second period,
Morgan Neitzke would score off a wrist shot to cut the Nittany Lions lead to one, with 17 minutes left in the frame. For the remainder of the period both teams were held off the scoring sheet. The Lions would trail 2-1, going into the final period.
In the third period, the Nittany Lions found their third tally of the game, five minutes into the frame off the power-play. The Nittany Lions would tally again with less than three minutes left in the period, to lead 4-1. With less than a minute left in the game,
Kaitlin Finnegan would score an unassisted goal on a point-blank shot.
After this matchup, the Lions moved to 4-7-0 on the season and 1-2-0 in conference play.
Natalie Ferenc started in net, stopping 35 shots.
