MARYLAND HEIGHTS, MO. – On Saturday night, the Lindenwood women's ice hockey team took on Penn State in their second matchup of the weekend. The Lions would fall 8-2 to Penn State.
GAME OVERVIEW
In the first period, Penn State would find the back of the net twice with one coming in the first two minutes of the game.
Natalie Ferenc would make 13 stops in the first period. Lindenwood would have seven shots in the first frame.
In the second period, the Lions would start off strong scoring 54 seconds into the frame while short-handed.
Morgan Neitzke would tally the first goal for the Lions, cutting Penn State's lead to one. Less than a minute later, Penn State would score one of their own. Up to this point, Penn State would lead 3-1. Four minutes later, Penn State would find the back of the net, to extend their lead to three. With 9:12 left in the period,
Olivia Grabianowski would redirect a shot into the net, from a
Molly Henderson pass, to cut Penn State's lead to two. Penn State would tally twice more to end the period. The Lions would trail 6-2, going into the final period.
The Black and Gold would be held scoreless in the final period, while the Nittany Lions found the back of the net twice.
After this matchup, Lindenwood moved to 4-8-0 on the season and 1-3-0 in conference. Both Ferenc and
Emily Finach spent time in net for the Lions, making a combined 27 saves.
