Men’s Ice Hockey Drops Close Game to #14 Western Michigan

On Friday night, The Lindenwood men's ice hockey team traveled to Kalamazoo, Michigan., to take on #14 ranked Western Michigan. In a tightly contested matchup, the Lions would fall 3-1 to the Broncos.

GAME OVERVIEW
In the first period, the Lions would strike first, finding the back of the net at the 17:01 mark. David Gagnon would register the goal for the Lions, assisted by Caige Sterzer and Joe Prouty. The Lions would hold the Broncos scoreless in the first period, leading 1-0 going into the first intermission.


In the second period, the Broncos found the back of the net at 6:44 mark, to tie the game up at 1-1. Less than a minute later the Broncos would score again, while on the power-play, to gain their first lead of the contest. With less than three minutes to go in the period, the Broncos would net their third goal of the game, to jump to a two-goal lead. Going into the final frame, the Broncos would lead 3-1.


In the third period, both teams were held off the scoring column. After this matchup, the Lions moved to 3-10-2 on the season.


Trent Burnham started in net for the Lions making 64 stops, setting a new personal high in saves in a game.

QUOTABLE
"I am so proud of the way we played against our best opponent to date. The resiliency of our determination was tested every shift," stated Head Coach Rick Zombo.

The Lions and Broncos will meet again on Saturday, December 2nd at 5:00 pm CST, in Kalamazoo, Mich.
