Women’s Ice Hockey Drops Second Matchup to Mercyhurst 4-1

MARYLAND HEIGHTS, MO. – On Saturday afternoon, the Lindenwood women's ice hockey team took on Mercyhurst in their second matchup of the weekend. The Lions would fall to the Lakers 4-1, after giving up four goals in the first period.

GAME OVERVIEW
In the first period, the Lakers would control the offensive side of the puck. In the frame, the Lakers would score four unanswered goals, with one of them coming off the power-play. The Lions in the period led in shots with 11 compared to the Lakers 10. Within the frame there was a total of seven penalties. The Lions would trail 4-0, going into the second period.

In the second period, the Lions would create some quality scoring opportunities, but could not find the back of the net. Both teams in the period would remain scoreless. The Lions would once again lead the shot category with 10 shots while the Lakers had seven. Going into the final period the Lions would trail 4-0.

In the third period, the Lions would find pay-dirt scoring at the 13:42 mark of the period. Gigi Pora would be attributed the goal for the Lions, assisted by Morgan Neitzke and Sidney Jackel.

After this matchup, the Lions moved to 7-10-1 on the season, and 2-5-1 in conference.

The Lions will take a month-long hiatus from play, coming back on January 5th and 6th to take on Minnesota State on the road.
