ST. CHARLES, MO. - The Lindenwood softball team fell to both Houston Christian and Louisiana Monroe on Saturday on the second day of the "Best on the Bayou" tournament in Monroe, Louisiana.
GAME ONE OVERVIEW
The Lions took on Houston Christian for a second day in a row, having another tough assignment in facing the Huskies.
Only two Lions were able to get hits off HCU's Katy Janes, with
Lauren Pelton and
Dallis Darnell both tallying one hit a piece.
Keighlan Cronin,
Molly Heidrick and Lydia Feiste all split time on the mound for the Lions, with Heidrick striking out three batters and Fieste one.
GAME TWO OVERVIEW
Taking on the tournament hosts in game two, things ended up being a much tighter race for the win.
ULM would score first in the bottom of the third, and then once again in the bottom of the fifth. The Lions would answer back by getting on the scoreboard late in the sixth inning that started with a single from Darnell.
Mya Bethany advanced to first base right after, but Darnell got out at second.
Irelynn West walked, so Bethany advanced to second, and then Pelton came up with a huge double to center field.
Bethany would account for the Lions' lone run in this game, preventing Louisiana Monroe from getting the shutout before the conclusion of the game.
UP NEXT
The Lions will take on Western Michigan one more time tomorrow starting at 9:00 a.m. at Louisiana Monroe.
