Women's Basketball Defeated at USI

ST. CHARLES, MO. - The Lindenwood women's basketball team was defeated by the USI Screaming Eagles on Saturday evening by a final score of 43-66 in Evansville, Indiana.

"We were really out of sync on both ends of the floor tonight," said Head Coach Katie Falco. "We will regroup, get back to work, and I am confident our team will respond!"

GAME OVERVIEW
The first quarter started off slow for both squads, with USI only able to knock down 11 total points and Lindenwood not yet breaking the double digit mark with just six total points.

Southern Indiana would outscore the Lions 19-11 in the second quarter, gradually improving their offensive presence. Both teams shot low forties from the floor, however, with Lindenwood at a 41.7% and USI at a 44.4%. The Screaming Eagles were just able to string together a more fluid attack heading into halftime.

The Lions would knock down 15 points in the third, but USI would answer with 24 more points. The home team's shooting percentage was significantly better than Lindenwood's this quarter with their 42.1 from the floor as opposed to the Lions' 30.8. USI also out-rebounded the Lions 6-16 in the third, making for a successful defensive presence as well.

The deficit would prove to be too much for the Lions to come back from despite scoring 11 more points in the fourth versus USI's 12 more points. Things definitely tightened up for Lindenwood this quarter, but it was a little too late in the game for a change in momentum.
