ST. CHARLES, MO. - The Lindenwood women's basketball team faced a 39-71 loss to Tennessee Tech on Thursday night in Cookeville.
"We were not able to put a complete game together," said Head Coach
Katie Falco. "The first & fourth quarters were competitive. We need to find a way to take care of the ball, and then be consistent scoring when we do. We have another road opportunity on Saturday!"
GAME OVERVIEW
Things were even up during the first quarter, with the Lions responding much better to the quick speed of play the Golden Eagles showcased last time against them. The scoreboard read 13-16 after the first 10 minutes, appearing to be a toss up heading into the second.
After some more intense defensive pressure, the Golden Eagles were able to hold the Lions to just five points in the second quarter, running up their lead to 18-37 going into halftime. A combination of turnovers and shots not falling acted as the Lions' downfall during this quarter, making for a tough climb to comeback.
Tech didn't take their foot off the gas in the third, hitting the 50 point mark before the conclusion of the period. Lindenwood's shooting improved slightly, but they were still unable to catch the Golden Eagles.
The fourth quarter was much better statistically for the Lions all around, but Tennessee Tech put them in too deep of a hole to climb out from, shooting an 66.7% as a team from the floor. TTU would finish the game with a cumulative 48.6 field goal percentage, while the Lions trailed with a 37.8%.
