On Saturday, the Lindenwood men's lacrosse team faced off against the Long Island University Sharks. The Lions pulled out their first NCAA Division I victory in epic fashion against the sharks, winning by a score of 9-8.
Overview
The Sharks started the scoring off in the first quarter at the 13:08 mark. The Lions would strike back scoring three of their own coming from
Jake Hartje,
Ryan Kemp, and
Cam Smith. The Sharks would score once more to end the frame with the Lions leading 3-2. In the second quarter, the Sharks would score first at the 12:55 mark. The Lions would score two of their own six minutes later coming from
Wesley Scurci and Smith. The Lions and Sharks both would score once more to end the first half.
In the third quarter, scoring was stifled with the Lions scoring two goals and the Sharks scoring one. Lions that scored in the third, were
JP Morris and
Flint Thielen. In the fourth quarter, the Sharks dominated scoring four of their own and tying the game at the 4:54 mark. The Lions at the 1:04 mark would retake the lead coming from a Scurci shot assisted by
Adrian Thompson.
Morris would lead the team in points having three coming from 1 goal and two assists. Thielen, Scurci, and Smith led the Lions in goals, all having two.
Blake Nolan started in net for the Lions making 14 saves.
