On Saturday, the Lindenwood men's lacrosse team (1-2) traveled to Newark, N.J. to face-off against New Jersey Institute of Technology. The Lions would fall to the Highlanders on a last second shot, losing 14-13.
Overview
The Highlanders would control the first frame of the game, outscoring the Lions 5-2 in the first quarter. Scores for the Lions in the first quarter included
Noah Wehrman and
Wesley Scurci. In the second quarter the Lions would dominate the scoring category scoring five while the Highlanders scored twice. The Highlanders would score the first two goals of the second quarter, but the Lions would come back scoring five unanswered goals to end the quarter tied up at 7-7. Scorers for the Lions in the second were two tallies from Scurci, and
Flint Thielen,
Shane Egen, and
Adrian Thompson all scoring one.
The Lions would control the third quarter outscoring the Highlanders five to three, leading 12-10 going into the fourth. The Lions had the first and their only tally in the fourth coming from Egen. The Highlanders would score four unanswered in the fourth with their last tally coming in the final seconds of the game to edge the Lions 14-13.
Blake Nolan would start in cage for the Lions, making 12 saves on 26 shots on cage.
