THIBODAUX, La. --Junior Brett Bowers went 1-for-4 with a home run and three RBI for Lindenwood baseball (1-2) in an 8-3 loss to the Nicholls State Colonels (2-1) on Sunday.
Sophomore Bennett Stice (0-1) started and took the loss on the mound for Lindenwood. Freshman Michael Walsh was a bright spot out of the bullpen, going one shutout inning while allowing one hit.
At the plate, the Lions were led by Bowers, who went 1-for-4 on the day with a home run and three RBI. Senior Greg Sanders put together a standout performance at the plate as well, going 2-for-3 with a walk. Sophomore Marcus Heusohn also helped out for Lindenwood, putting together two hits in three trips to the plate while adding a walk.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Lions were trailing 7-0 in the eighth inning when they first put runs on the board. Lindenwood scored three times, all of them coming across on a three-run homer off the bat of Bowers. The Lions were unable to get any closer, as Nicholls State added one run to their tally on the way to an 8-3 final.
