The Lindenwood men's volleyball team (9-8, 6-3 MIVA) fell to No. 15 Ohio State (14-9, 6-3 MIVA), 3-1 on Friday evening in Columbus, Ohio.
GAME OVERVIEW
After trailing early in the first set, Lindenwood took the lead at 14-3 after a mini four-point run which was capped off by a block by the Lions. Ohio State would regain the lead and never look back in the opening set, seeing the Buckeyes take it, 25-21 and grab a 1-0 lead in the match.
The second set followed the same storyline as the first. The two teams were tied early at 8-8 after an ace by
Clay Wieter, but the Buckeyes quickly regained momentum, which forced a Lindenwood timeout. Out of the break, Lindenwood registered six out of the next eight points, but still trailed 20-18. Ohio State would pick up the second set, 25-21.
Lindenwood kept battling and grabbed momentum in the third set about midway through. Tied at 14, the Lions won five of the next six points to gain some separation. In the set, Lindenwood had 11 kills as a team, its most of any set. Lindenwood still trailed as the match needed a fourth set, after the Lions picked up a 25-20 victory in set three.
After trailing 11-8 in the fourth set, the Buckeyes pulled away and would win the final set of the match 25-13 and pick up the victory by a 3-1 margin.
