On Saturday afternoon, the Lindenwood men's lacrosse team (2-5) face-offed against the Bellarmine University Knights. The Lions would fall to the Knights 18-7.
Overview
The Lions would start the game off tallying the first goal coming from
Adrian Thompson. The Lions would remain scoreless for the rest of the quarter, while the Knights would score twice. The Knights would control the second quarter scoring six unanswered goals and shutting out the Lions. The Knights would lead 8-1 going into the second half.
The Knights would start the scoring off in the third frame. The Lions would break their scoring drought in the third, scoring three times while the Knights score four times. Scorers in the third frame for the Lions included
Shane Egen,
Cam Smith, and
Flint Thielen. The Lions would trail 12-4 going into the final frame. The Knights would score six goals in a row to start the fourth quarter. The Lions would retaliate scoring the last three goals of the game.
Freshman
Thomas Ortega would score his first goal in a Lion uniform in the fourth.
Blake Nolan started in net for the Lions, making 10 saves on 28 shots on net.
