Baseball Drops Extra Inning Game to Eastern Illinois

ST. CHARLES, Mo. --The Lindenwood baseball team (7-26) fell 3-1 in an 11-inning matchup to the Eastern Illinois Panthers (16-12) Tuesday at Lou Brock Sports Complex.

Freshman Michael Walsh started the ballgame and went 4.2 shutout innings while allowing three hits, walking one and striking out two.  Easton Rakers took the loss as he went three innings, gave up three runs, zero earned, on one hit, and struck out three.

Senior Sam Kissane led the way offensively for the Lions, going 3-for-5 in the ballgame with a walk. Junior Tyson Ludwig compiled a standout performance at the plate as well, going 1-for-4 with a triple and a walk. Junior Brett Bowers also helped out, going 2-for-3 for Lindenwood with a double.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Lions got on the scoreboard first, starting in the sixth inning. Lindenwood got an RBI single from junior Logan Stevens, scoring junior Colin Shea from second base. The Lions were unable to hold the lead, as Eastern Illinois scored three times over the remaining five innings to grab the 3-1 win.

» Kissane led the Lions, compiling three hits in the ballgame.
» Lindenwood's highest scoring inning was the sixth, when it pushed one run across.
» Lindenwood left 12 runners stranded on base in the loss.
» The Lions out-hit the Panthers at a 9-5 clip.
