EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. --The Lindenwood Lions were not able to score a run against SIU-Edwardsville pitcher freshman Sydney Baalman on Saturday despite totaling six hits and were shut out 8-0 by the Cougars.
Senior Keighlan Cronin (4-9) started and took the loss in the circle for Lindenwood (16-29, 8-13).
Junior Chloe Honchar led the way offensively for the Lions, going 2-for-2 in the ballgame with a double.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Lindenwood did not advance a runner past second base in the game. The Lions went 1-for-6 with runners in scoring position, last placing a runner as far as second in the fourth, when Honchar made it into scoring position with two outs.

Senior Amanda Weyh (5-9) got the ball to start for Lindenwood (16-30, 8-14) and took the loss.
Offensively, the Lions were led by senior Morgan Gersch, who went 1-for-3 on the day with a home run and three RBI. Weyh furnished a standout performance at the plate as well, going 1-for-2 with a double. Sophomore Mya Bethany also chipped in for Lindenwood (MO), putting together one hit in two trips to the plate while adding a double.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Trailing 5-0, the Lions first put runs on the board in the seventh inning. Lindenwood's offense started clicking and put up four runs, including a three-run home run off the bat of Gersch. The ballgame ended with that seventh inning rally falling short.
