ST. CHARLES, MO. – On Thursday night, the Lindenwood women's soccer team (1-2-0) took on Chicago State (1-2-0) in a thriller of a home opener. The Lions would come out victorious over the Chicago State Cougars by a score of 4-2.
GAME OVERVIEW
The Lions started the game out hot, scoring two goals in the first forty-five minutes. The Lions struck first in the 25
th minute, coming from an
Anna Johnson shot assisted by
Eyglo Thorsteinsdottir off a penalty kick behind the half line. Almost twenty minutes later, the Lions would strike again in the 44
th minute coming from a
Mia Corrigan header, assisted by
Lauren Tyson. The Lions would be up 2-0 going into halftime.
In the second half, the Lions would start of the scoring. In the 49
th minute
Mattie Ohlsen connected with the back of the net coming from a
Lily Sutter assist. The Cougars would not shy away quietly. In the 58
th the Cougars would put in an assisted goal, to lessen the deficit to 3-1. The Lions would strike back in the 75
th minute from a forty-yard shot from Corrigan. The Lions would lead 4-1 with 15 minutes left. The Cougars would add the last tally of the game coming in the 77
th minute.
Erika Anstine would start in net for the Lions making three saves on two goals against.
