INDIANAPOLIS, IND. – On Sunday, the Lindenwood women's soccer team (2-4-1) faced off against IUPUI (6-2-0) in Indianapolis, Ind. The Lions would retain the lead for majority of the game, but a late run by IUPUI would propel them to a 3-1 victory over the Lions.
MATCH OVERVIEW
In a highly offensive contest, both teams remained scoreless for the majority of the first half. In the 36
th minute, Freshman
Georgia Pardalos would put the Lions up 1-0 over the Jaguars, to net her first goal in a Lion uniform assisted by
Alex Chapman. The Lions would keep the Jaguars scoreless for the remainder of the first frame, with the Lions leading 1-0 going into the second half. In the first half a total of 18 shots were taken, with the Jaguars giving up seven and the Lions giving up eleven.
In the second half, the Lions would keep the Jaguars off their game for the majority of the second frame. The Jaguars would find their footing in the 79
th minute, scoring off a penalty kick, to tie the game up at 1-1. Not more than a minute later, the Jaguars would put another shot in the back of the net to change the tides with the Jaguars leading 2-1 with ten minutes to go. One minute later, in the 81
st minute, the Jaguars would put one last shot in the back of the net to lead 3-1. The Lions would remain scoreless the remainder of the match.
Erika Anstine would start in net for the Black and Gold, making eleven saves on three goals against. By the end of the match, there was a total of 43 shots by both teams with 18 of them being shots on goal. The Lions had 14 shots with four of them being on net and Jaguars had 29 shots with 14 of them being on net.
