Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women's Soccer Falls 1-0 to South Dakota

VERMILLION, S.D. – On Saturday evening, the Lindenwood women's soccer team (2-5-1) faced off against South Dakota (4-2-3). The Lions would fall to the Coyotes 1-0, coming from an early first half goal.

MATCH OVERVIEW
In the first half, the match would remain level for the first fourteen minutes of the game. The Coyotes would get on the board in the fourteenth minute from an unassisted goal and lead 1-0. Strong defense from the Coyotes kept the Lions off the board. The Lions in the first frame took four shots with two of them being on net, while only giving up two shots, with one of them catching the back of the net.

In the second half, the Coyotes would control the offensive category taking seven shots with three of them being saved by Erika Anstine. The Lions would take three shots in the second frame. Tough defense by both teams would keep each other off the scoreboard for the remainder of the game, with the Coyotes winning 1-0. 

Anstine started in net for the Lions, making three saves on one goal against.

"One play was the difference today. It was the most physical game our group will see this year. Our players battled well on the road. Now we take the positives from our result today and find another level to compete at, to be ready for OVC play", said head coach Dave Musso.
