CHARLOTTE, N.C. – On Friday afternoon, the Lindenwood field hockey team (1-3) faced off against Queen's University of Charlotte (0-7). The Lions would win over the Royals 1-0.
GAME OVERVIEW
In a low scoring affair, defense was the name of the game. In the first period both teams were held scoreless, with a total of four shots by both teams. The Royals would control the offense category with three shots to the Lions one, in the first frame. In the second period the Lions would get on the board from an
Eléonore de Lasa shot assisted by
Izzy Folan in the 22
nd minute of the match. The Lions would lead 1-0 going into the break, after shutting out the Royals for the remainder of the second period.
In the third period, great defensive and goalie play kept both teams scoreless. The Lions had five shots in this period, while only giving up two with one being on net. In the fourth period, much like the first three frames, strong defense kept both teams scoreless. The Lions had eight shots in this period with seven of them being on net.
Kyla Cooke started in net for the Lions, making three saves and earning her first shutout on the season.
