th minute, the Lions received a red-card and would play a player down for the remainder of the match. Strong net-minding in the first half by
Erika Anstine would keep the Golden Eagles scoreless. At the end of the first 45 minutes, both teams would remain scoreless, going into the second half 0-0.
In the second half, the Golden Eagles offense would heat up. In the 50th minute, the Golden Eagles would break the scoreless tie, leading 1-0. Seven minutes later, the Golden Eagles would tally again to lead 2-0. The Golden Eagles would score one more time to seal the victory in the 59th minute.
Anstine would start in net for the Lions making nine saves on three goals against.
QUOTABLE
"We came out and played a very good first 15 minutes. The red card changed the game. Until the first goal in the second half, we were very disciplined. Playing 75 minutes a player down is not ideal tactically and physically against a quality opponent. We must have a short memory and focus on Sunday," said head coach
Dave Musso.
