MUNCIE, IND. – On Sunday morning, the Lindenwood field hockey team traveled to Muncie, Ind., to take on Ball State. The Lions would fall to the Cardinals 5-0.
MATCH OVERVIEW
For the first eleven minutes of the match both teams were held scoreless due to strong defensive play. In the twelfth minute, the Cardinals would break through scoring off a penalty shot. The Cardinals would lead 1-0 going into the second period. The Lions would remain shotless in this period. In the second period, both teams were held scoreless. The Cardinals would lead 1-0 going into the second half.
In the third period, both teams were held scoreless for the first thirteen minutes of the period. The Cardinals would score with less than two minutes to go in the period to go up 2-0. With less than a minute left in the frame, the Cardinals would put one in the back of the net. In the fourth period, the Cardinals would continue to control the possession category. In this period, the Cardinals would two more in the back of the net to extend their lead to five.
Leah Brozovich started in net for the Lions making four saves on five goals against.
