Women’s Ice Hockey Falls 6-0 to #1 Wisconsin

MARYLAND HEIGHTS, MO. -- On Thursday night, the Lindenwood women's ice hockey team (2-1-0, 0-0-0 CHA) took on the reigning national champions, the University of Wisconsin Badgers. The Lions would fall 6-0 to the Badgers.

GAME OVERVIEW
Both teams would remain scoreless for the first 14 minutes of the minutes of the game. With less than six minutes left in the period the Badgers would put one in the back of the net. A minute later the Badgers would extend their lead to 2. The Badgers would go into the second period leading 2-0. Natalie Ferenc made 26 saves for the Lions in the first period, after stopping a flurry of shots.

Five minutes into the second period, the Badgers would extend their lead to three from an assisted goal. Six minutes later, the Badgers would score once again to lead 4-0. Strong defense by the Lions would keep the Badgers off the board for the rest of the second frame.

In the third period, the Lions would keep the Badgers off the scoreboard for the first fifteen minutes of the period. The Badgers would score two more times before the end of the game.

Ferenc started in net for the Lions, making 59 saves on six goals against. In this matchup, Ferenc would hit the 1300 career save mark. The Badgers would hold the Lions to five shots on goal in this matchup. The Lions would go 3-3 on the penalty kill.
